The Contact Company Hosts Health and Well-being Day

Last week, The Contact Company hosted its first ever Health and Well-being day across both sites, with a number of fantastic local organisations ready to provide help, advice and support to TCC employees.

Employees had access to information about gym memberships and fitness classes, as well as the opportunity to pick up information from ‘Wirral Mind’ mental health charity and smoking cessation services.

Among our fantastic visitors were Public Health Wirral, Stroke Association, Weightwatchers, Wirral Therapy Services, as well as drug and alcohol services.

The Contact Company Human Resources Manager, Claire Singleton:

“As a business, the well-being of our employees is really important to us. We recognise that the majority of employees work during the day and that going to their G.P. for advice or a health check can sometimes prove difficult-  so we wanted to bring the service to them. In some cases, signs of bigger problems can be detected, and employees can be signposted and given professional advice about follow-up appointments with their G.P.  We invited various groups from across the Wirral to provide low-level health checks.

Over 400 employees had a blood pressure check and many sought advice on giving up smoking, information on units of alcohol and safe alcohol consumption, and healthy eating- some employees have even suggested that they are going to start walking groups!”

Some colleagues shared their experiences and thoughts about the event via the company intranet: “Just visited and found it a lot more useful than I thought it would be. Good to know my blood pressure is OK and picked up some really useful information”; “Please make time to make the most of this opportunity today! So much free information and advice given- plus freebies (everyone loves freebies)”.
